HOUSE HOUSE BY ANDREW MAYNARD ARCHITECTS

by Ted Savage / April 2, 2013

Bucking the Australian trend to flat, massively sprawling homes, House House by Andrew Maynard Architects, in the Richmond suburb of Melbourne, upgrades twin Victorian terrace homes, owned by two generations of the same family, with a single unifying structure that goes vertical.

Sunlight-filled open internal spaces, traditional cedar cladding and graffiti-discouraging street art outside, and high-efficiency construction for sustainability, all within a compact footprint, embrace its location while creating a new architectural direction for its urban setting.
